SB 1182, as introduced, Gonzalez. Master Plan for Healthy, Sustainable, and Climate-Resilient Schools. Existing law requires the State Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission to develop contingency plans to deal with possible shortages of electricity or fuel supplies to protect public health, safety, and welfare.
SB 1280, as introduced, Laird. Waste management: propane cylinders: reusable or refillable. Existing law prohibits specified stores from providing single-use carryout bags to a customer at the point of sale and makes a violation of this provision subject to specified civil penalties.

Existing law requires the State Department of Social Services, subject to an appropriation, to provide grants to qualified nonprofit organizations through contracts, in order to provide persons with certain immigration-related legal services.

ANOTHER VOTING ISSUE SCA 2 (Stearn D) Elections: voter qualifications. The California Constitution allows a US citizen who is at least 18 years of age and a resident of California to vote. This measure would reduce the minimum voting age to 17.
FIREARMS: ANNUAL REGISTRATION OF FIREARMS SB 1160 introduced February 14, 2024, Senator Anthony Portantino. This bill would require every firearm in the state, except those specifically exempted, to be annually registered [by the owner of that firearm] with the department.
INFORMATION ON VOTING BILLS AB 544, as amended, (Bryah D) Voting: county jails – Under existing law, a person is authorized to vote if that person is a United States citizen, a resident of California, at least 18 years of age, and not imprisoned for the conviction of a felony.
